Author: Lex Valentine
There are very few books that can grab my attention from it's first page, but the
first paragraph of "Broken Bond" hijacked my heart and reeled me in with its
opening scene right from the start. One of the main characters, Haven found a
place in my heart, and he won't be one I will ever forget.
As Haven is stumbling blindly in utter despair he makes a wish for the one man
who has caused this devastating pain in his heart and soul. Haven's journey takes
him back to Darkness, the club where he first meets Kellen. Unknowingly, there
are two special entities witnessing Haven's devastation. These two special entities
take separate paths in an effort to save both men's future. It is Kellen's brother
Nick and his sub Micah that find Haven lying in the entrance to the club, and they
take Haven away with them to try and save Haven's life, and hopefully Kellen's as
well.
I was so moved when Nick and Micah went out to search for Haven. After finding
Haven, Nick and Micah see to his well being, and I don't want to give too much
away for other readers. Just know that Nick is a very wickedly good Dom, and he
knows that his brother has seriously screwed up with Haven. He tells Kellen to
literally get his head together or Nick himself will make sure he does.
The two separate paths that these two special entities take will sound familiar to
many readers who love the classic stories. It will make you love both these special
helpers, and make your heart hurt as much as mine did I hope. But it is well worth
it I promise you.
I love how Ms Valentine pulled me into the story from the very first page, and it
was ever so hard to put my Kindle down for any length of time. Haven is such a
wonderful young man, and has had a pretty harsh life after losing his mother. Even
though life has dealt Haven some pretty painful experience in his young life he
still longs for someone to love and take care of. What he truly wants is for Kellen
to love him as much as he loves Kellen. His submission to Kellen is what Haven
was made for.
Just writing this review got my water works going again, and I know I will be
reading "Broken Bonds" over and over again as it has found a forever keeper place
in my Kindle collection. Ms. Valentine has a new fan in me. Books that takes the
readers heart and soul on a deep emotional journey are the very best written books
of all. Thank you Ms. Valentine. For I have all the rest of your books to look
forward to.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2013OMG what an emotional ride. Have tissues standing by. You are rooting for Haven to have a HEA ending from the first page. If you enjoy a good Christmas story, this is it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2018This tale was tragic. Watching Haven give up. Seeing Kellen be so needlessly cruel. Then learning of the horrors in Havens past. Thankfully Nick and Micah saved Haven. They loved him when he needed it most. Finally Kellen acts with all the love he's been hiding and cares for Haven as he should. Super sweet how they come back together.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2013Wow. Wow. Wow.
I know I've said this lately, but I have to say it again. I've been so blessed by the books I've chosen to read in the last several months. I know this is going to make it sound like I'm full of myself, and trust me, I'm really not. But, for me there are very, very few books I give 5 stars to. I kind of think of 5 stars as "coveted reading." This is one of those books.
I'm generally not really into the whole dom/sub genre, but after reading the snippet, I just had to read this story. To say this book blew my socks off is an understatement. It pulled at my heartstrings and yes, I'll admit, I cried several times. This book really packs an emotional punch. It is about so much more that just the dom/sub relationship. It's about feelings and realizations and in the end.....a great shared love.
I guess you can tell that I adored this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2016it was really great, emotional sweet and well done. i hope to read the next one in the series soon
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2013Usually when I read BDSM themed books, the Dom is all knowing and pretty much perfect. Not so much in this story. While it was a nice change (the Dom was such a jerk!), I thought it should of taken Haven alot more to trust Kellan again.
Plus, I had a WTF moment when in the middle of sex, the sub's arms are tied up and he somehow moves his arms. But then the arms are tied again at the middle of the scene. Jerked me right out of the story (though maybe I read that part wrong, I didn't go back and double check).
Saying all that, I still enjoyed the story. Very much in the theme of Christmas and seems to deliberately jerk your emotions, but it worked (poor Haven!) for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2019I loved the idea of angels first of all. I was broken hearted for Haven and could have gladly kicked Kellen in the family jewls a few times. I especially wanted to cry about Havens mother and the little Xmas tree. This story was one I could not put down. Great work by the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2014A bit dark for a Christmas story, but sometimes it takes something dark to kick us in the butt and make us see what is important. Very nice Dom/Sub story with an HEA. Enjoyed it!
