Terra Nova Kindle Edition

So it is on the south side of the El Tajo canyon, east of the Puente Nuevo, where there once stood a hydroelectricity plant powered by the Guadalevín River. This power plant was originally constructed sometime in the early 1900s to harness the power of the river and provide electricity to the town and surrounding region. It later fell into disuse and was abandoned. From above, you can’t even make out that there is anything here apart from the trees because the vegetation has completely taken over. Once you have made your way to the ruins, there are three main buildings, including one that is carved into the side of the cliff itself. It consists of a series of stone arches and is still impressive in appearance. While scrambling through the ruins, it is unbelievable to think that not far away hundreds of tourists walk each day without ever knowing this lost little village exists. If you dare you could follow the partially collapsed waterway that fed the generators and you will eventually reach the massive pillars of the Puente Nuevo that is nearly 100 meters high and was finished in 1793 after another bridge had collapsed.

I have been exploring since childhood and now after retirement I am even more hungry for adventure than ever.

I mostly like traveling on a budget preferably by bicycle or off-road motorcycle.

Somehow I always end up in interesting places often without having the intension to go there in the first place.

Scandinavia - the French Alps - the Pyrenees - Northern Russia - Uzbekistan are some of the places I like best and recently I discovered Spain. There is still a lot to discover in Spain. This year in 2022 I traveled from my home in the Netherlands to the most southern point in Europe. And from this place Tarifa on the most Southern tip of Spain I made my way north again to the most northern point in Europe, the North-Cape in Norway. After 7 months on the road I covered more than 23.000 kilometres on a twenty two year old Enduro motorcyle.

In my first book "Terra Cognita" I describe in a Travel Blog style the part of my 2021 journey around Sweden. nearly 300 pages with more than a hundred never before published photos and maps.

I have only recently started writing and I hope adventurous people will enjoy reading my books.

Stay Sane, Stay Adventurous and keep Exploring the unknown.
